"THE GUARDIANS OF THE WORLD" PAULINE GUERRIER: Brussels
Pauline Guerrier (b. 1990 Clamart, FR), lives and works in between Paris, FR & Lisboa, PT.
Pauline Guerrier, a contemporary artist, divides her time between the cities of Paris and Lisbon. Born in 1990 in Clamart into a family of passionate artists, the artistic influence of her father, a sculptor, her mother, a choreographer, as well as that of her grandmother, a ceramist, and her grandfather, a painter, has shaped her path from a very young age.
In 2009, she enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, beginning her first three years in the workshop of Giuseppe Penone, before joining Ann Veronica Janssens’ studio until she graduated in June 2014. Pauline Guerrier embodies a nomadic spirit, setting up her studio according to her travels across Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Chile, Benin, Senegal, Japan, and India. She draws her inspiration and knowledge from collaborations with weavers, glassblowers, engravers, glassmakers, and mosaic artists.
In her relentless pursuit of mastering the craft techniques of the world, Pauline Guerrier confronts ancient knowledge with contemporary issues, exploring themes such as ecology, science, faith, and superstition. She expresses herself through various artistic forms, from drawing to sculpture, as well as performance. For her, the artistic medium is merely a vehicle for a message—a language made up of an alphabet of symbols meant to convey profound ideas.
Guerrier received an MFA from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2014. She has had solo exhibitions at Stems Gallery, Brussels, BE ; Romero Paprocki, Paris, FR ; Clavé Fine Art, Paris, FR ; The Invisible Collection, London, UK ; Galeria Foco, Lisboa, PT ; RX Gallery, Paris, FR. Recent group exhibitions include Vendôme Pavillon, Paris, FR ; Clavé Fine Art, Gosserez Gallery, Paris, FR ; Château La Coste, Puy-Sainte-Réparade, FR ; La Galerie du 19M, Paris, FR. Her work is also part of numerous prestigious institutions such as Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, JA; Villa Datris, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, FR; Foundation Zinsou, Ouidah, BJ; Collection Auberge - Domaine des Étangs, Massignac, FR; MO.CO., Montpellier, FR; Artissima Collection, Lyon, FR; Château La Coste, Puy-Sainte-Réparade, FR; Cobra Museum of Modern Art, Amsterveel, NL; Collection Majudia, Montreal, CA. Her work has been featured in prominent publications such as Beaux-Arts Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar France, The Steidz or Madame Figaro.
